The Dubai CSD provides investors with a wide-range of services. Dubai CSD services allows investors to swiftly access information through innovative tools, such as eServices to track your sharebook, submitting and tracking your online form requests, track and manage your stock portfolio and manage your investments.

 

A. Apply for an Investor Number in Dubai Financial Market

Obtaining a DFM Investor Number (NIN) is simple and without any associated costs. Select one of the following ways to obtain a DFM Investor Number (NIN):

You can apply for an Investor Number through one of the following options:

1. eServices
For opening Investor Number you can simply now access DFM Smart Services and apply for instant Investor Number or you can submit the form and required documents via DFM eServices on www.dfm.ae
  • Register to DFM eServices at DFM Website or DFM Smart Services App
  • Login with the username and password
  • Select the eFORMS tab
  • Select the form and complete it
  • Attach the required documents and click on ‘Submit’
  • The investor will receive the Investor Number through SMS
  • You will be notified by email once the status of the request is updated

  • Submit required documents
  • Sign on the Investor Number Request form electronically
  • An investor Number will be issued direct
  • An SMS will be sent to the investor on the registered number
Required Documents for (Individuals) :
  • UAE Nationals: Valid copy of Emirates National ID.
  • Residents: Valid copy of Emirates National ID and Passport.
  • Non Residents: Valid copy of the passport.

Plus, specific documentations depending on: 

Minor
(Below 21 years):
  • The signature of the Guardian (the Father)
  • Valid copy of the guardian’s Passport or Emirates National ID
  • In case of a guardian other than the father: true copy of duly authenticated guardianship order issued by the court or Notary public
  • Guardianship orders issued outside UAE must be certified by the UAE Embassy in those countries or the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs
 Marsoom Holder: 
  • Valid copy of the Marsoom issued from Federal Authority for Identify and Citizenship addressed to Dubai CSD or to Whom It May Concern
 Representative:
  •  Valid copy of a duly authenticated Power of Attorney issued from the court or Notary Public
  • Valid copy of the representative’s Passport or Emirates National ID
  • A Power of Attorney issued from other countries must be authenticated by the official authorities and the UAE Embassy in those countries or by UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs
 If the selected payment method is “Bank Transfer”:
  • Copy of the bank statement or certified bank letter, mentioning clearly the bank account details. The bank account should be in the name of the investor. 
Required Documents for (Heirs Account):

  • True copy of the Death Certificate
  • True copy of a duly certified Legal Declaration and/or Inheritance Limitation
  • Valid copy of the Passport (Residents & nonresidents) or Emirates National ID (for UAE Nationals & Residents) of all Heirs and representative
  • Valid copy of a duly authenticated Power of Attorney issued by the court on behalf of all Heirs
  • Any document issued from other countries must be authenticated by the official authorities and the UAE Embassy in those countries or the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Required Documents for (Companies/Institutions/Governments/Banks /Funds/ Trading Members registered at DFM):
  • Completed Investor Number Request Form and have it duly signed by the Authorized Signatory
  • Valid copy of the Trade License and Commercial Register
  • True copy of the Memorandum of Association
  • a duly authenticated Authorized signatory letter issued by the company
  • Valid copy of the Emirates National ID (for UAE Nationals and Residents) or Valid Copy of the Passport) Residents and NON Residents partners/authorized signatory
  • Bank statement or certified bank letter, Bank account should be in the name of the company.
If a Fund:
  • Inside the UAE: a duly authenticated license letter from the Central Bank
  • Outside the UAE: authenticated documents from the official authorities
If a Bank:
  • Inside the UAE: a duly authenticated license letter from the Central Bank
  • Outside the UAE: the authenticated documents from the official authorities
If a Trading Member registered at DFM:
  • Valid copy of Brokerage License from the UAE Securities Commodities Authority (SCA) or the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA)
  • An Official Letter issued from Market Operations Department at DFM that approves opening Investor Number at DFM
3. Trading Member You can approach a DFM licensed brokerage and they will obtain an Investor Number on your behalf by filling Investor Number Request Form and attaching supporting documents.

B. Appoint a Broker

  • After obtaining an Investor Number (NIN) from Dubai CSD, appoint a licensed broker by opening a trading account and complete the necessary forms.
  • The broker carries out the trading transactions (selling and buying) at your instructions.
  • Different brokers may offer different services and products to their clients. To select a brokerage firm, view the full list of licensed brokerage firms, including common members across DFM and Nasdaq Dubai and their services. You can contact the brokers to inquire about the products and services they offer to investors.

C. Trading – How to Buy and Sell Securities

Now that you appointed a broker, you can start trading through the options provided by your broker such as through the phone or online. You can monitor the prices and trading data of DFM and Nasdaq Dubai listed securities on www.dfm.ae by registering for real-time data access.

DFM and Nasdaq Dubai together provide a wide choice of financial instruments to investors which include listed equities, derivatives, ETFs, Bonds and Sukuk.
